Dear Maeve,

6 months today little mae flower.

You are pure joy.

Your hair is growing straight up toward the sky.

Your eyes twinkle when the light hits them.

You love mushing food between your chubby little fingers.

It looks as though you have been waiting your whole life for rainy, cold weather.

Your laugh is the funniest sound, husky & deep... and as you are so ticklish, we can treat ourselves to it whenever we please.

You have mastered sitting up.

And pulling all sorts of faces.

You are always watching & absorbing.

You are loved & adored by her.

And by us...

Our little golden Maevie girl, happy 6 months.

“You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow, they’ll be a little older than they are today. This day is a gift. Breathe and notice. Smell and touch them; Study their faces and little feet and pay attention. Relish the charms of the present. Enjoy today, mama. It will be over before you know it.” -Jen Hatmaker

Dear Lola & Maeve,

Week 9 favourites.

We spent the week by the river. We visited our most favourite beaches, we walked, we swam, we ate too many hot chips, we spent time with family, time singing in the car, and time together just hanging around the place.

It was lovely.

1. You said you would live here if you could.
2. Nothing beats a bush walk before tea time.
3. I was putting you down for a nap... but I spotted the hat.
4. Married for 40 happy years.
5. You two always head off exploring together before the beach towels are even laid out.
6. Swinging in our pyjamas.
7. You had the giggles.

Week 10 favourites

Settling back in at home has been lovely too.

1. You ask for pistachios at least 5 times a day.
2. Curious Maeve watching Grandpa whipper snip the grass.
3. It was late in the afternoon. Papa wasn't home yet. I asked you to kindly wait here for him. Maeve didn't have much of a choice.
4. You are becoming the gyoza making queen.
5. I love that your eyelashes cast a shadow.
6. Watching Dumbo.. the part when he jumps & for a moment isn't convinced he can fly.
7. I took a series of photos of you. In every one of them you are smiling.

Dear Lola & Maeve,

It's papa's birthday.

And so another year has passed. Another year where you have made us laugh every single day. Taken us on the most extraordinary adventures. Been the most selfless human being imaginable. Played with us in the garden. Inspired us, cared for us, & showered us with your patience and calm spirit. Another year of loving us unconditionally & wholeheartedly.

A few photos  from your day.

We spent the morning opening gifts, jumping on papa, & laughing at Maeve & her fascination with balloons.
We treated ourselves by going out for a delicious breakfast, at 'Three Chimneys'. There were sticky hands from the yummy raspberry & ricotta hotcakes, and Papa introduced you to the pinball machine.

After some time at home, in the garden, a visit from friends, and when Maeve  awoke from her mammoth nap, we headed to the beach with the extended family.
We unpacked, we played, lightening & thunder filled the skies, we repacked & headed back to our place. (photos courtesy of lukes phone)

At home, the skies cleared & the sun shone upon us. We continued the celebrations.

Until there were just two left dancing.

29 years young. May the next 29 be just as incredible.
