Dear Lola,

And just like that you are two years old.
And what a year it has been!

The first three months of your second year were spent growing increasingly confident on your feet as we explored New Zealand & the top part of Australia. Reflecting back, this could have been a lot to ask for such a little one, what with all those plane rides, time differences, crocodile tours, and most of all keeping up with your crazy & daring mama & papa. But you never ceased to amaze us, exploring wide-eyed and happy, making the perfect little travelling companion. We swam under more waterfalls then we could count, discovered the magic that is Kakadu, as well as countless other sunshine kissed spots. And as if that wasn't enough, we then drove 6000kms throughout New Zealand, taking in more than our minds & hearts could handle! You grew taller, and we all grew even closer together.

It was always going to be hard to top that incredible journey, but in the remaining 9 months you managed to do heaps of other really cool things too.

You quickly became really, really good at talking & haven't slowed down since. At age one you could say mama, dada, pup, oma & meow. At age two, well the sky's the limit!
You have all your teeth, a part from a few pesky molars.
You sing out loud more than your mama does... which is an awful lot.
You give a bazillion cuddles to those you hold dear.
You love your whole extended family and close friends so much, chatting about them all day long.
Imaginary play is your favourite kind of play... especially if you're outdoors.

My hope is that you continue to get excited over the small things, continue to laugh till tears well up in your eyes, continue to twirl till you're dizzy, and continue to explore & soak in the world around you through those innocent & adoring eyes of yours. The ones I get lost in every single day.

Happy 2nd Birthday sweet Lola

Your mama
